10 August 2015

We leave Austin today. It’s 1:28 AM. I went to the Rooster Teeth Podcast yesterday and the Achievement Hunter panel. It was so fun. My love for these people and the company is even greater now. I definitely want to come back next year. I’ll apply to be a Guardian, and if I don’t get a position, I’ll get a VIP badge. I’m hoping they do the Murder at the RTX feature again, since I wasn’t able to experience it this year. As for merch, I didn’t get much – a keychain of Diana’s Moonsilver Blade from League of Legends and a LOL AD Carry wristband. I wanted to get a poster from the Rooster Teeth Store, but that’s okay. I’ll write again from home. Until then—–

21 July 2015

We are heading home today. We had a lot of fun at SGC this year, but last year was a bit better, we feel. We’ll be back next year, though. And my goal is to be on stage in the cosplay contest. I’m signing off for this travel. Until the next quest—–

19 July 2015

Andrés, Michael, James, and I have been in Frisco since Thursday evening for SGC- ScrewAttack Gaming Convention. It is our second time attending except for James; this is his first time. We have had a lot of fun so far. I got some patches, a car decal, and a t-shirt. The decal is the symbol for Vampire Knight, a favorite anime of mine. I rarely find merchandise for that show, and there was only one decal, so I grabbed it on day one. I got an Elsa patch for my mom. She loves Frozen. I saw the RoosterTeeth panel today, and would have gotten autographs if the convention staff had not cut off the line stupidly early. Oh well. I’m going to RTX in August, so I can get more autographs there instead. I saw half the cosplay contest (I got there late). I really want to be a contestant on stage next year. After everything at the convention today, we met Andrés’s parents at a salsa & merengue festival. We stayed at their apartment for dinner, then came back to our hotel. We are waiting for Tati to get here and hang out. The Game Theorist panel is tomorrow, as well as a panel on cosplay armor and prop making, and Funhaus. It is after 2 AM, so I’m going to get some rest. Until morning—–

3 June 2015

Well, we’re home from our trip. We got back to my house around 2 or 3 AM. The morning after our stay in Albuquerque, we drove to the Four Corners Monument. It marks the exact spot where four states – Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona – meet perfectly. There were booths around the perimeter where American Indians were selling handmade goods. I got a ceramic cat figure and a magnet for my mom. We got a “friend” magnet for Sara, too. We then drove all the way across Arizona to the Grand Canyon, and we watched the sunset! I got a bead bottle to make a necklace, and I got my mom one as well. We drove south to Phoenix and stayed the night there. Oh yeah, we saw three moose at the Grand Canyon. The following morning in Phoenix, we set out for the final stretch to San Diego. We stayed through Sunday and got to explore downtown & Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park, and Coronado. We saw the convention center, ate at the Hard Rock Cafe, and I got ripped off by a locksmith at one point. We visited the Museum of Man and the Old Globe at Balboa Park, had dinner at McP’s Irish Pub in Coronado, and walked along the beach. I almost lost my car key in the sand! On Sunday, we went to Los Angeles to watch NALCS live at the studio – directly across the street from the Riot Games headquarters! I got some great merch, and had a great time. After LCS, we set out on our return trip home. We stopped in Dallas for a night at Señor and Señora Aguilar’s apartment. They gave me books about photography and drawing and a cute little camera keychain. Yesterday evening, we finally got on the road back to Baton Rouge. I can’t wait for another road trip. Hopefully, it’s sooner rather than later! Until the next journey—–

27 May 2015

Andrés and I have been on a road trip for the last few days now. We left Baton Rouge on Sunday and headed west. Our ultimate goal is San Diego, CA. We’ve stopped in Austin, Amarillo, and Albuquerque so far, and Albuquerque, NM is the farthest west I’ve ever driven. We couldn’t get enough of the mountainous landscapes out here. The whole place is beautiful. We even happened upon, entirely by chance, the exact midpoint of old Route 66, in Adrian, TX. I got a map (for a future road trip idea), a magnet, a coffee mug for Mama, and a travel mug for myself. Andrés and I found a shop in downtown Albuquerque that sells Native made items – drums, pottery, blankets, etc.We bought a pair of dreamcatchers. It’s kinda gushy, but I’m hoping that dreamcatcher will bring me dreams of travel and of Andrés, since I’m traveling and I bought it with him. I’ve already decided to drag… I mean, INVITE… some friends along next time we take a long distance road trip like this. Until morning—–

14 April 2015

This past weekend, Andrés and I went to Palm Coast, Florida. We stayed with Chance, an old friend of Andrés. He lives with is mother. His fiancée, Courtney, came down from Virginia to visit, too. She brought her cat, Bandit. Apparently, Courtney and I are extremely similar in tastes, interests, and activities.

We went to the beach in both Palm Coast and in Daytona, which is a few minutes away via I-95. We also visited a huge flea market in Daytona, and we drove to Lakeland one night, just south of Orlando, to see a drive-in movie. I bought some incense, and Andrés bought me a lamp and some scented oils. The trip happened between April 8-12. I’m writing this entry after the fact because I forgot to pack this journal. I’ll be sure to remember next time. Until the next quest—–

11 January 2015

Today is our last day at the convention. I’m hoping to pick up a few more souvenirs before we leave. I hope the next convention isn’t too far away. I’ve seen so many wonderful cosplays that have inspired me. Next year, my goal is to be on the contest stage.

We came home today. I found a Star Trek shirt and a Celtic necklace for my mom and some fun things for me, too. Andrés gave me a Harley Quinn glass. The next convention I want to visit is Anime Matsuri in April. Until the next journey—–

8 January 2015

Today, we drove to New Orleans for Wizard World Comic Con. It starts tomorrow afternoon. Andrés, Michael, Hailey, Alex, and I are all staying together at the Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Convention Center. It’s only two blocks from the convention center. We are thinking of having lunch at Café du Monde tomorrow. I’ll check in once we have some down time.—–

3 January 2015

We have returned home. Yesterday, we explored the Galleria again. We were going to try skating, but after half an hour of waiting in line for tickets, we were only halfway through the line. So we walked around instead. There was a small stand with anime merchandise, from which I got a Sailor Mars wallet and a Sailor Moon themed deck of cards. We woke fairly late today, packed up, and came home.

Oh, I almost forgot – Señor Gabriel and Señora Jackie treated me to lunch at Steak ‘n’ Shake as an early birthday present. It was delicious. While I wish we could have done more and been more independent, I had a lot of fun on this trip. Until the next journey—–

1 January 2015

It’s a brand new year! I had so much fun last night. Andrés taught me how to dance a salsa. We shared a kiss at midnight, and we followed an old New Year tradition. At midnight, you eat twelve grapes, one for each month of the year, and for each grape, you make a wish for the new year. My wishes are as follows:

  1. For improved self-discipline
  2. For success in all my endeavors
  3. For better times for my family
  4. For better times for Andrés’s family
  5. For plenty of travel
  6. FOr good performance in school
  7. For improved Spanish to a conversational level
  8. For Andrés to be truly happy for the rest of his life
  9. FOr growth and improvement in all my desired skills
  10. For plenty of fun times spent with friends
  11. For better times for the world
  12. For the rest of my life to be spent with Andrés

As for my New Year’s resolution, I am going to confidently do everything my way, paying no attention to the negative judgments of others.

Today, we went to Mass – the first of the year – and went to see a movie. Señor Gabriel and Señora Jackie saw The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, while Andrés, Tati, and I saw Mockingjay Part I. I have no clue what we’ll be doing tomorrow.—–
