Hey, y’all! It’s Alirien.
Story time: I’m currently in the TAM 3037 class at LSU for this semester, aka Intermediate Apparel Structure and Fit, aka Flat Pattern (yay!). For this class, I have a term project to take fashion from a point in history as inspiration for a modern apparel line. I’ve designed four looks, out of which I’ll be making four garments before the semester is over.
Here are my design sketches:
I’ll be making the shirt and skirt from the first sketch, the pants from the second sketch, and the dress from the last sketch. Eventually, I will also make the blazer from the first sketch and the top from the second.
We’ve already begun work on the skirt. We’re making all our garments for the industry standard size 8.
Here’s the pattern I made for the skirt (my first one!):
And here’s my muslin mock-up!
I’m so proud of it! I’ll be making the final version for next Tuesday, but I need to alter my pattern for more fullness and the proper length, as the hem is meant to fall at the knee. I’ll be editing and posting a video of the mock-up construction soon, and I will also be making a video for the rest of the pieces. I’m so excited!
Let me know what you think of my work so far. Thanks for reading! I’ll write again soon.
I love y’all!
Until next time…
